One-Hour Boat Ride
Fresh ocean breezes, frolicking dolphins and watching for whales are all part of a boat trip to Catalina Island. The boats boast comfortable seats, a snack bar and a range of libations of the over-21 variety.

Spectacular 15-Minute Helicopter Ride
If you're in a hurry to get here or the seas make you queasy, Island Express is the way to go. Those "26 Miles Across the Sea" go by in 15 minutes if you're in a helicopter. Unlike the boats you'll have to forego the snack bar and libations, but you'll get a spectacular trip and the adrenaline rush of flight to make up for it.

Out-of-State Airlines Arrivals
If you live out of state, you'll probably want to fly into one of the nearby Southern California coastal airports and then take a helicopter or boat to Catalina Island. Long Beach Airport is the most convenient to Catalina Island, or you can choose to arrive at John Wayne in Orange County or Los Angeles International Airport.
Airport Shuttle to the Boat Terminals
There are a number of shuttle companies that will pick you up at the airport and bring you to a nearby port, where you may catch a boat or helicopter over to Catalina Island. We recommend Karmel Shuttle.

When you get off the boat, you will be on Crescent Ave. (It runs right along the water with shops and restaurants).
Go 4 blocks over, (you will pass the Green Pier) to Metropole Ave. (A golf cart rental and US Bank are on the corner).
Make a left on Metropole Ave.
Go 1/3 block up, and we are on the right-hand side next to Vons Supermarket. (Across the street is the Santa Catalina Island Company Offices).
Directions from Vons Express
Walk out of Vons Express and turn Right.
Walk through the Discovery Tours Plaza (you will pass the Plaza Café).
Cross the street (Sumner Ave.) and walk through the Island Company Parking lot.
You are on Metropole Ave. at the end of the parking lot.
Cross the street and walk toward the beach. We are on the left hand side.
If you pass Vons Market, you have gone too far.
Directions from the Casino Building
Walk along Crescent Ave, toward town. You will be walking along the brick path.
Cross the street once you get into town. You want to be on the side that is opposite of the ocean.
Turn Right on Metropole Ave. (Coney Island West will be on the corner).
Stay on the Right-hand side and we are next to Vons.
