Fly into Catalina's Airport in the Sky and Stay a While

 
Californians can now rejoice, as you can fly your own plane to Catalina Island once again thanks to the newly rebuilt Airport in the Sky. The Airport in the Sky offers a 3,250-foot-long runway and is located on a 1,600-foot mountaintop in the middle of the island. From the airport it's a 45-minute shuttle ride to downtown Avalon where you can grab a delicious seafood lunch on the beach. Or you can grab a delicious meal (and some souvenirs) at Airport in the Sky's DC-3 Gifts & Grill, which offers sandwiches, Mexican cuisine and grilled eats along with live music and unmatched aerial views.

  • What can I see at the Airport in the Sky Nature Center?

    The Airport in the Sky’s Nature Center is an outdoor exhibit found at the west side of the Airport terminal and it’s designed to educate and entertain visitors flying into Catalina Island. The Nature Center offers a stunning 40-foot long tile map of the island, along with facts and dioramas about the island’s diverse history and wildlife.
  • Is there a gift shop at the Airport in the Sky?

    Yes, there is a gift shop. At the Airport in the Sky you’ll find the DC-3 Gifts and Grills, where you can not only grab lunch and enjoy beautiful views from the outdoor patio but also pick up souvenirs such as key rings, coffee mugs and t-shirts to commemorate your Catalina Island vacation.
