Old Catalina bones with Updated Charm

The Catalina Island Inn is one of several hotels that have undergone recent renovations and the Inn has done a wonderful job. Like many of the Island accomodations, old bones translate to STAIRS , lots of them. There is not a lift ( elevator ) at the Inn and there are 4 levels. The upper 2 floors have partial and full harbor/ocean views and comfy balconies which is a rarity on the Island. The Inn has a variety of room size and configurations and as we took our daily stair hikes we viewed spacious well thought out rooms and others that looked like multi person dorm rooms for folks on a budget. While many hotels participate or offer in some sort of breakfast program the Inn does not. They do offer a meager offering of mini muffins, croissants and coffee/tea staged in the small check in area. Rooms on any floor furthest back from the check in have the least street noise. Rooms do have mini refers and at the time of our stay ice machines were out of service but one on floor 2

Fun day trip on a beautiful Island.

Took the ferry from Dana point.Took about an hour and cost about 80 bucks roundtrip.Very enjoyable cruise on the ocean.Nice view of the island from the boat getting bigger as you get closer. When you get there rent a golf cart cost 100 bucks for three hours.Trust me you want to get the cart. The road winds up and down the overlooks that are pretty high up there which makes for some really great pics and takes almost 2 hours to make the whole trip around the island.Reaonable lunch at Coney island west burger and fries there were also plenty of eateries also..A really great day trip..wouldn't want to stay longer then that..no real reason too

Short Get Away

Spent a weekend at Catalina Island. Stayed at the Catalina Island Inn, it was a pleasant stay. Enjoyed the tour of the island and friendly people/atmosphere. The ride on the Catalina Express was great, enjoyable quick ride. Will definitely do it again the the future

Weekend stay with family

Small hotel but clean, comfortable and very friendly staff! Check in was a breeze! Perfect location, within walking distance of restaurants and shops! Even though it does not have an elevator going up the stairs was easy. Will return
